Serabi is a traditional snack originating from Indonesia which is thought to have been known since the days of the Mataram Kingdom. This food is mentioned several times in Serat Centhini, which was written by the poets of the Surakarta palace during 1814-1823 by order of Pakubuwana V, as offerings in the procession of consent or marriage, ruwahan, and especially snacks. In the 157th song & x28;pupuh& x29; stanza 18, [1] it is told that serabi is one of the many types of snacks sold in the yard during wayang kulit performances at night. It was also stated that the nine kinds of pancakes are also part of the various snacks that need to be prepared as offerings in wayang and ruwatan performances.
